"Full HD aerial imaging. Stabilised. Ruggedised. Mission-ready from first flight."
APEX is a compact, ruggedised head camera system engineered for integration onto unmanned aerial vehicle platforms operating in defence, border security, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) roles. The system delivers Full HD video imagery with active stabilisation — ensuring that platform vibration, wind shear and rotational motion do not degrade the quality of the imagery reaching the operator.
Where lighter, consumer-grade UAV cameras fail in operational environments — succumbing to vibration artefacts, environmental ingress or rapid temperature fluctuations — APEX is purpose-built to maintain image integrity. The optical system is sealed to IP67, providing protection against dust, precipitation and submersion, making the system viable for deployment across the full range of UK and international operating environments.
APEX integrates directly into existing UAV data links and ground station infrastructure. The system outputs stabilised Full HD video over standard interfaces, allowing straightforward integration with existing ISR ground segment software, recording systems and exploitation tools — with no proprietary middleware required.
Full HD stabilised imagery from a compact, ruggedised payload — delivering ground-station-ready video across fixed-wing, multirotor and VTOL platforms without bespoke integration work. The optical system maintains image quality through vibration environments that defeat consumer-grade alternatives.
Three layers of engineering — optical design, active stabilisation and ruggedised packaging — work together to ensure that APEX produces operationally useful imagery regardless of platform behaviour or environmental conditions.
The APEX imaging sensor captures Full HD video at up to 60 frames per second — delivering the resolution and motion fidelity required for identification of personnel, vehicles and infrastructure from operational UAV altitudes. High dynamic range processing maintains detail across both bright surfaces and shadow areas within the same frame.
UAV platforms subject their payloads to continuous vibration from propulsion systems, structural resonance and atmospheric turbulence. Without active compensation, these forces produce unusable, blurred imagery — particularly at longer focal lengths. APEX counters this with a 3-axis active gimbal combined with electronic image stabilisation, delivering smooth, stable video regardless of platform behaviour.
Consumer UAV cameras fail in operational conditions — humidity corrodes connectors, dust infiltrates optical paths, and hard landings destroy delicate assemblies. APEX is sealed to IP67 and qualified to MIL-STD shock and vibration requirements. The compact, low-profile housing minimises aerodynamic drag while the standard payload mounting interface allows integration onto most UAV platforms without airframe modification.
Consumer-grade drone cameras are optimised for photography, not sustained operational use. APEX is designed from the outset for defence and security ISR missions where reliability, image quality and integration simplicity are non-negotiable.
Full HD stabilised aerial imaging is a fundamental capability requirement across a wide range of defence, security and government UAV programmes — wherever persistent, reliable aerial observation is needed.
Persistent aerial observation of areas of interest, route surveillance and target tracking — delivering ground-station-ready Full HD video with operationally useful identification detail.
Unmanned aerial patrol of land borders and coastlines — providing persistent, wide-area coverage without the personnel and infrastructure cost of manned aerial platforms.
Aerial surveillance of forward operating base perimeters and critical infrastructure — extending the observation range of ground-based security elements without additional manpower.
Aerial patrol of energy, transport and communications infrastructure — enabling rapid response to intrusion events and providing persistent deterrence without static guard deployment.
